Have you ever noticed that the day before you leave for a vacation is your most productive day of the year? Here are some reasons why you become “super efficient”.

1. Create a plan – you make a “to do” list to follow – either on paper or in your mind. It is your “blueprint” for completion of the essential tasks.

2. Focus – you create a sense of urgency to focus only on the things that absolutely need to get accomplished such as last minute errands, work projects and packing. No busy work, extra phone calls, or unnecessary searching the internet.

3. Delegate or Ask for Help – you find ways to get assistance for tasks you cannot accomplish alone in order to get everything done. Some examples are getting help with lining up pet care, covering emails when you are gone, or getting the grass mowed.

4. Defer – you evaluate tasks or meetings that are non-essential and slate for a later date or cancel entirely. When our time is finite, we look at how we spend it with a more critical eye.

Utilizing these techniques year round will help you accomplish more and be more efficient at home and at work.
